Mānasa Yoga
Authored by Dr. Pandit G. Kannaiya Yogi
About This Course
For the past 35 years, we have been sharing the rare truths of yoga knowledge that we have practiced for many years in the lineage of Maharishis, directly with students who have approached us in person or those from various countries who have somehow obtained our address and contacted us. We have also taught them the methods of practice. Observing the histories of yoga ashrams and yogis that have flourished in different parts of the world for various reasons, our students developed a deep belief: "It is because our Guru’s explanatory methods have not spread worldwide that such ashrams function. If the Guru’s teachings were known to people eager to learn the truths of yoga, their efforts and hard work would be fruitful."
This conviction led them to earnestly urge us to publish the spiritual and yogic secrets in both Tamil and English. It is in response to their heartfelt request that this book has blossomed as the first flower from their inner aspirations.
Yoga, wisdom (jñāna), devotion (bhakti), desire (kāma), or any philosophy and the true teachings of any religion—all these must be carried out through the mind. To the best of our understanding, religious worship, various philosophical guidelines, and all moral disciplines for humans are designed to control the fluctuations of the mind and to regulate the development of the citta (mind-stuff), tailoring them to suit human qualities.
Without the mind, there is no worldly life (iha-loka) or heavenly life (para-loka) for humans. The mind is the cause of all joy and sorrow. By understanding, strengthening, mastering, and employing the mind, a person can shape their worldly life as desired, attain happiness, and achieve a noble state in the heavenly realms. Unfortunately, the majority of people have no understanding of the mind, which forms the foundation of both worldly and heavenly lives. Mental discipline and mastery are indispensable for the practice of yoga and other spiritual disciplines.
With this in mind, we present this first work, offering a comprehensive explanation about the mind. Those who understand the explanations provided in this book and undertake the practices will undoubtedly gain certain benefits through mental mastery. To further affirm this, we have detailed experiential methods in the 27th section, explaining how one can reap valuable benefits through mental strength without dedicating separate time or place, but rather while performing their daily duties. We firmly believe that anyone who follows this guidance will experience the sweet fragrance of this blossom.
If this work receives the support and appreciation of the people, we will be inspired to publish more such profound works on yoga, spirituality, and esoteric knowledge, fulfilling the divine command to uplift humanity.

Commentary on Dr. Pandit G. Kannaiya Yogi's Preface to Mānasa Yoga
By Sri Shakti Sumanan
Dr. Pandit G. Kannaiya Yogi’s preface to Mānasa Yoga serves as an insightful window into his profound vision of integrating spiritual and mental discipline for the upliftment of humanity. The work is not merely a treatise on yoga practices but a deliberate attempt to unveil the esoteric principles of mind control and its role in achieving both worldly and spiritual fulfillment.
Key Themes in the Preface
- Transmission of Ancient Wisdom:
Dr. Kannaiya Yogi positions himself as a custodian of the Maharishi lineage, dedicating his life to transmitting the rare truths of yoga, refined through years of practice. This lineage serves as the fountainhead of knowledge, emphasizing the authenticity and depth of his teachings. - Mind as the Central Axis:
The author underscores the pivotal role of the mind in all aspects of human life—be it yoga, devotion, philosophy, or religious practices. He eloquently asserts that without the mind, neither the present (iha-loka) nor the future (para-loka) is possible. This focus on the mind elevates his teachings beyond ritualistic practices, steering towards self-mastery and inner transformation. - Holistic Approach to Sadhana (Spiritual Practice):
By placing the mind at the center of spiritual and worldly pursuits, the author bridges the often-perceived gap between the material and the divine. His explanation that the regulation and mastery of mental fluctuations lead to happiness and liberation resonates with core yogic and Vedantic principles. - Practicality of Yogic Practices:
Dr. Kannaiya Yogi’s inclusion of methods in the 27th section demonstrates his commitment to practicality. He recognizes the challenges of modern life and provides adaptable approaches, ensuring that spiritual growth can coexist with day-to-day responsibilities. - Mission to Spread Knowledge:
The preface reveals the author's sense of duty to spread his teachings globally. Encouraged by his students' requests, he acknowledges the need to document and disseminate these truths, aiming to uplift seekers and inspire them to achieve greater harmony in their lives. - Vision for Future Works:
The preface sets the tone for a larger mission—a series of publications exploring deeper spiritual, yogic, and esoteric subjects. This vision not only highlights the author’s aspirations but also emphasizes the transformative potential of his teachings.
